Orange County EMT Accreditation
(EMT Ambulance Driver/Attendant License Course)

EMTs who are seeking employment as an EMT in Orange County must successfully complete an OCEMS approved EMT Expanded Scope Accreditation course based on the OCEMS Policy 315.00

Price: $100.00

This course is approximately 4 hours and includes:

• Nitroglycerin, Aspirin and Oral Glucose. These are the medications EMTs may assist with under the expanded scope, and your list currently shows only the MDI and auto-injector.

• DuoDote and Epi auto-injectors by name. “Auto-Injector” could be read as Epi only, so list both.

• Pulse Oximetry and Oxygenation.

• Spinal Motion Restriction.

• AutoPulse.

• Assisting with the Flexible Intubation Guide.

• Interfacility Transport and Medical Devices. This is a large part of the deck: IV fluids and pumps, medication patches, G-tubes, Foley catheters, chest tubes, ventilators and CPAP, trach tubes, and central and arterial lines.

• DNR, POLST and Declared Dead. These are Policies 330.50 and 330.51.

• EMT Scope of Practice (Policy 315.00) and Treatment Guidelines (Policy 310).

• Documentation and OCEMS Terminology. These are patient contact time (PCT), the receiving-center acronyms, and what counts as a patient.

• Specialty Centers, Trauma System and Receiving Hospital Selection. You could fold these into your first bullet, “Orange County EMS System.

Course prerequisites

Students must bring to class:

• current EMT card

• current CA Driver’s license

• current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) provider card.

This course meets the California State requirements for 4 hours of CEUs. NPSC is a State of California approved EMS continuing education provider. (OCEMS #30-0096).

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be made no less than 48 hours in advance and student may sign up for another course. Courses rescheduled by NPSC may either be refunded or deferred to another time slot.
